Adventuring Amsterdam

Amsterdam. A city of culture, cheese, chocolate, and, well, other things.

When one steps off of their train at AMSTERDAM CENTRAAL, they are welcomed into the city by the historical Victoria Hotel, followed by a good mile of foot traffic heading toward the Royal Palace. The palace attracts tourists, citizens and flocks of crows in their front courtyard.

Canals perpetrate the city every turn you make. You can walk the entire city, but be aware of the bikers moving through the crowds like a virus, speedy and not scared to attack you.

Always have an Heineken in your hand, but make sure not to look intoxed while stumbling into the Red Light District where the illegal becomes legal when it comes to selling a body.

Parades float along the water and you can sit on the highest points of the bridge and watch the excitement pass below you. Always have food in your bags from Jumbo or Albert Heijn to keep you on your toes because the pick-pocketers are no strangers to tourists in the city.

The city is made for tourists, but the culture and history can still be found at Ann Frank House and the Van Gough Museum, which is never shy from being crowded by over 1000 people.

Make sure you get chocolate croissants and waters, maybe a coke, but not much of a drink selection is available, unless you prefer Starbucks cold coffee or Red Bull.

The coffee shops are not selling you the Starbucks either, that is a coffee café. A coffee shop is the store to buy edibles and other greens to help a person relax…

Have some fun, live a little and experience the coffee shop, but enjoy it in a park where many are like you, curious about the mind being free.

I hope you like McDonald’s because that is the famous fast food, but the costs of the healthy food goes down, and the greasy chicken and beef soars higher. On the plus side, you pass one right as you leave the city and head toward AMSTERDAM CENTRAAL to depart home.
